“From Life: The Classical Art of Figure Drawing” is an interactive exhibition presented by the Strand Life Drawing Group. This upcoming exhibition will open in The Strand Center Gallery on Friday, October 7th, 2022. The opening reception for this exhibition will take place during First Friday Plattsburgh and will be interactive with a live model, encouraging attendees to draw alongside a drawing instructor. 

Throughout the month of October, we will be hosting three free Community Figure Drawings Nights with an instructor and draped live model every Friday, 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Participants are asked to bring their own pads and pencils. 

The final evening of this exhibition, November 4th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, will feature a live performance by our Modern Dance students led by instructor Jessica Bouharevich in response to the figure drawings on display in the gallery.

“From Life” is co-curated by artists Shaun O'Connell and Cynthia Root and features the artwork of both O’Connell and Root, along with other artists from the Strand Life Drawing Group.
