ADK Coast 3D Print Sprint:
24-Hour 3D Printing Challenge

Join us at Strand Center for the Arts this spring for a 24-hour 3D printing challenge! Students, in teams of 2-4, will be presented with a challenge to complete in 24hrs while locked in the arts center. The ADK Coast 3D Print Sprint is co-produced by Strand Center for the Arts and Plattsburgh Robotics.

The ADK Coast 3D Print Sprint is limited to 15 teams.

Registration: $45/person, includes event t-shirt

Registration Deadline: March 7, 2025 @ 5pm

Grades: 8th grade-College (Ages 13+)

Saturday: April 5th

12:00 pm: Team check-in and setup

12:45 pm: Opening Ceremony and Challenge Reveal

1:00 pm: Challenge Start

6:00 pm: Dinner Provided for Teams

12:00 am: Midnight Snacks & Food

Sunday: April 6th

6:00 am: Breakfast for Teams

11:30 Doors Open for the Public

1:00 pm: Challenge Conclusion & Lunch for Teams

1:30-3:00 pm: Team solution testing, Presentations, Awards, and Closing Ceremony

3D Print Sprint Rules

  • Teams will have 24 hours to design, print, and test their solutions to a design challenge issued at the event.

  • Teams will consist of 2 to 4 members. No solo registration.

  • Teams can bring the following:

    • up to 2 computers

    • up to 2 3D Printers

    • Plastic Filament spools. NO ABS filament. Acceptable filament types include: PLA (all types), PETG, PETR, TPU

    • a notebook or paper.

    • small hand tools (files, pliers, spatulas, etc.) Some tools will be available to sign out.

    • measuring devices.

    • cell phones and other small personal electronics. (pictures, research, or social media)

    • hot glue and hot glue gun

    • other glues

  • All 3D printed items on any team's final product must be designed by the team. Downloaded published plans, models, or 3D designs will not be allowed unless it comes from the library of parts provided by the judges.

  • Teams will be expected to make a presentation at the end of the challenge. The presentation should reflect the design process and the steps your team took to complete the challenge and should be about 3-5 min in length.

  • Additional challenge specific rules will be given with the challenge revealed at the event.
