Hues of Identity: Pride Exhibition

June 7th - August 10th, 2024

Hues of Identity showcases queer art illustrating the queer experience through the perspective of LGBTQIA+ artists.

Through the lens of media, culture, history, politics, intimacy, self acceptance, and more, this exhibition highlights queer artists as artists worth celebrating. Even if the pieces do not appear explicitly “queer” in nature, they serve an important role in queer self-expression!

“As queer people, I think we have a very unique and special relationship with art. Many of us have struggled to express ourselves regarding our identity -- whether that is due to our own struggles with self-acceptance or due to societal backlash and resistance. Art, music and fashion are sort of a cathartic way to do that -- to find ourselves, to channel our feelings and to show people who we are. I know my LGBTQIA+ siblings struggle with feeling safe, accepted and celebrated, and that is why I wanted to put this show together. Queer artists are artists worth celebrating, and I wanted to extend this opportunity to them. I also wanted to expose the area to more queer art to help build a bridge of connection and foster mutual understanding. Community is such an important part of Pride. I am proud of my team and my LGBTQIA+ family. I am so excited to see what good will come from this exhibition.”
