Ron Nolland imaginations Exhibition 2016
March 4th - March 26th, 2016
The Strand Center for the Arts was thrilled to host photographer Ron Nolland, and his guest exhibitors; Kate Catalfamo, Corky Corrado, and Julie Canapa in the Main Gallery in March, 2016.
Nolland is a constant exhibitor in The Strand Center “Member Shows” and his work has appeared in all of the center’s Off-Site Galleries. Beyond that, his solo shows at local galleries include such venues as: Clinton Community College, Hale Walter Gallery, The Depot Theater, the Peru Library, and the Stonybrook Gallery, where he was a founding member. His work is also featured at the Plattsburgh International Airport and at a large permanent collection at the Inn at Smithfield Best Western. Additionally, Nolland's photography was recently featured in Blueline, an Adirondack literary magazine, and he was an Adirondack Life Photography Contest Award Winner.
In reference to his work, Nolland stated that, “With most of my images based in the nature I see around me, I look to find patterns and details in plain sight. I look to find more there than originally meets the eye. Seeing the unusual in the usual helps me create my ‘imaginations.’ ”
Exhibiting pieces which compliment and expand upon the subjects of Nolland’s photographic work will be metal sculptor, Corky Corrado; poet, Julie Canapa; and painter, Kate Catalfamo.
“As soon as I saw Ron’s work, I knew that we had to feature it in our gallery,” stated Museum Coordinator, David Monette. “And when I heard his idea of combining it with other, complimentary works based on select photographic pieces of his, it simply cemented that idea in my mind.”
