Thea Stevenson Ethers Exhibition 2015

Thea Juliette is a British artist whom has shown in San Francisco, LA and NYC. She trained at SFAI and her work centers on dream scapes and the re-occurrence of dream memory.

Ether is a manifestation of the unknown and the known. Known in that it exists, in Latin as “The upper pure, bright air” and surrounds us imperceptibly, unknown in that it can never be touched.  According to Roman Mythology, Ether is the upper air of heaven.

This art work stands as a imprints of the ether: the unconscious world, realized in the landscape. Echoes of my dreams and fractured memory both of myself, of the land, and the unknown that are re manifested in photographic art work.

Dreams are re-interpreted through friends, and we are thus allowed to connect to each others unconscious worlds.  This work also stands as a testament of creation against destruction and the many faces making our feminine and creative identity. I choose the urban destruction as memoirs of my own creative destruction.

In these acts we are phenomenologically re connecting, to ourselves to the landscape, to our ancestors whom inhabited the landscape, and to each other. These images become refractions of myself, but also of the Ether.
