Summer Members Exhibition 2016

July 1st - July 29th, 2016

The Strand Center for the Arts was proud to announce its annual Summer Members Show on view in the Main Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street from July 1st to July 29th, 2016. The Summer Members Opening Reception, a First Weekends Art Walk event, that took place Friday July 1st from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and was open to the public.

 Every year, the Strand Center welcomed works from its members for the Summer Members Show. This collaborative exhibition featured a breadth of work including photography, sculpture, painting, pastels, ceramics, stained glass, printmaking and drawing. In addition, to commemorate past artist members the exhibit featured a special selection of one of the Strand Center’s former founding board members, S. Booker, an individual whose work and influence in the community remained undiminished in his absence.

 Concerning the Summer Member Show, gallery director David Monette stated, “Every day in our community, sometimes unbeknownst to us, we have artists living and working, quite humble about their talents. The Summer Members Show is when these folks can show off their incredibly diverse concentrations of skill.”
