The Strand Center for the Arts was thrilled to host photographer, Bobby Ziemba, in the Main Gallery in November, 2016.

Bobby Ziemba had been photographing his surroundings for half a century, but it wasn’t until he retired as a forest ranger that he returned to school to pursue a degree in the fine art of photography. With that experience, he’s been fortunate to have been afforded many opportunities to share his photographs in a variety of venues; from local art galleries, to a magazine covers, to the crazy nomadic showings at fine art festivals. And yet, he’s gained more than monetary awards and ribbons for his work. As he says, he’s gained an outlet for his thoughts and beliefs, for the joy he finds in living with nature and having the time to enjoy the wilderness, bringing back what he experiences in the form of a photograph that he can then share with the world.

 Concerning his work, Ziemba stated that, “I've learned that art must come from the heart. To this day I am still amazed at the beauty that surrounds us. That's what I concentrate on in my art, the beauty; to remind people there is always wonder around us if we take time to stop and observe.” He goes on to add that, “Our lifestyles become so hectic that we tend not to have time to rejuvenate our bodies and minds in the natural world. My work is an extension of my life. I value nature in all its forms, and I try to enlighten my audience to an existence beyond our modern lives.”

 “Bobby stopped by the gallery to show me his new work,” stated gallery director, David Monette, “and I was blown away by how ethereal and hauntingly beautiful his photographs are. They have an almost magical feel to them that really gives you the impression of the mystery and drama of nature.”
