Show on View: July 1-29, 2016
The Strand Center for the Arts is proud to announce its annual Summer Members Show on view in the Main Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street from July 1 to July 29, 2016. The Summer Members Opening Reception, a First Weekends Art Walk event, will take place Friday July 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and is open to the public.
Every year, the Strand Center welcomes works from its members for the Summer Members Show. This collaborative exhibition features a breadth of work including photography, sculpture, painting, pastels, ceramics, stained glass, printmaking and drawing.
In addition, to commemorate past artist members the exhibit will feature a special selection of one of the Strand Center’s former founding board members, S. Booker, an individual whose work and influence in the community remains undiminished in his absence. Concerning the Summer Member Show, gallery director David Monette stated, “Every day in our community, sometimes unbeknownst to us, we have artists living and working, quite humble about their talents. The Summer Members Show is when these folks can show off their incredibly diverse concentrations of skill.”
The Summer Members Show will be on view from July 1 to July 29, 2016. The exhibition opening is Friday July 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This event is free to the public and refreshments will be served. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.
