Holiday Members Show 2015

Opening Reception Friday, December 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM
On View December 11, 2015 – January 2, 2016

Once a year the Strand Center for the Arts decks its halls with holly, garland, sparkling lights, candle sticks and seasonal art as part of the Holiday Members Show. Bi-annually the Strand Center produces exhibitions focused on presenting the talents of its members; the Holiday and Summer Members Shows. Members at any artistic level, from hobbyist to professional, are invited to submit works for these “Members Only” exhibitions. The Opening Reception for the Holiday Members Show will take place Friday, December 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and is free and open to the public.

The diverse array of art featured in the Holiday Members Show includes painting, drawing, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, stained glass, bead weaving, printmaking, mixed media and woodwork. A majority of these artworks will be available for purchase and can be picked up before the end of the show for holiday gift giving.

The Strand Center is also a drop-off location for WPTZ’s Toys for Kids program. For years WPTZ has partnered with local organizations, the Marine Corps League, the Salvation Army, JCEO and the Christmas Bureau to collect presents for families in need. All toys and monetary contributions stay in the area in which they’re donated, so toys will go to a neighbor in the community. The Strand Center encourages people to bring a toy to donate when visiting the Holiday Members Show or anytime during regular hours. Toys will be accepted until December 22, 2015.

The Annual Holiday Members Show will be on view in The Strand Center Main Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh from December 11, 2015 to January 2, 2016. The Opening Reception will take place Friday, December 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM and is free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
